Workshops

Programme Development

Workshops for programme development were held in Christchurch, New Zealand, in February 2005, in Lancaster/Nottingham, UK, in November 2005, and Hamilton, New Zealand in February 2007. These workshops not only allowed the planning team to clarify project goals and guidelines, but also served as a chance to promote the programme and project opportunities at each of the partner institutions.
In addition to these, a series of workshops, student and topic-focused meetings are organized on a regular basis , often in conjunction with conferences that are offered near the partner institution.


Ljubljana Workshop October 2007 - Usability Research

Dr. Masood Masoodian spent a few weeks in October offering a seminar on "Automatic Speech Transcription For Multimedia Content" at the University of Ljubljana. In addition to the seminar, he also offered a one-day workshop to Slovene students that focused on research in the field of Usability.


Hagenberg Workshop 2007 - Character Design

Michael Wong from the Wanganui School of Design spent a week in Hagenberg holding a workshop for students focusing on the creation of effective characters for animation, games, and interactive installations. In addition to covering the fundamentals of 3D character design, students received individualized feedback on characters they were creating for their master's projects.


Hagenberg Workshop November 2006 - User Evaluation for Games

Dr. Masood Masoodian from the University of Waikato held a two-day workshop regarding evaluation methods for computer games. The usability issues of popular game titles were discussed and two student game projects were assessed by the workshop attendees, who consisted of Leonardo students from Slovenia, New Zealand and Austria.


HIT Lab NZ Workshop July 2006 - Interaction Design

EU-NZ programme exchange students attending the the CHINZ 2006 conference took part in a 3-day workshop focusing on challenges in the field of Interaction Design. Participants attending different NZ universities met for the first time and exchanged ideas about ongoing and future HCI projects.
